SOUND FAMILIAR?
IT WENT DOWN. THEN IT REFUSED TO COME BACK UP.
Maybe the glass slowly slid down. Maybe you heard a sharp pop followed by a loose cable or grinding inside the door. Or maybe the switch worked yesterday but is completely silent today.
A window stuck open can interrupt errands, school pickup, or a road trip. Let's identify the symptoms before replacing parts.
Choose the closest match. These are possible explanations, not a diagnosis.
NOT EVERY FAILURE NEEDS A NEW MOTOR.
On Town & Country minivans, the window regulator's cables, guides or glass supports can stop moving the glass even when the electric motor still runs. A switch or electrical problem can also produce a completely different symptom.
We review the regulator, motor, switches, cables, glass mounts and wiring to help identify the needed repair.
WINDOW STUCK OPEN? PROTECT YOUR VAN.
If the glass is crooked, loose or making grinding sounds, avoid repeated switch operation. Do not place hands in the mechanism or force the glass into position.
For temporary protection, see our stuck-down window guide. Keep any covering clear of your view before driving.
FRONT WINDOWS, REAR WINDOWS & MINIVAN DETAILS
Tell us whether the problem is at the driver's door, front passenger door or another power-operated window, and whether the glass moves at all. On some Town & Country configurations, rear-door glass does not retract completely by design; limited travel alone doesn't necessarily mean the window is broken.
Please include your model year, affected window, what you heard, and ZIP code. Parts and service availability depend on the exact vehicle and safe working conditions.
CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY WINDOW REPAIR QUESTIONS
Why does my Town & Country window go down but not up?
A regulator cable, glass support, switch, motor, guide or electrical fault could be involved. The symptoms help narrow the possibilities, but inspection is needed to identify the failed component.
Does grinding mean the window motor is bad?
Not necessarily. Damaged or tangled cables, pulleys and other regulator components can make noise while the motor still operates. Avoid repeatedly cycling a grinding window.
Why won't the rear passenger window lower all the way?
Some rear-door windows have limited travel because of the door and glass design. If the window stops at its normal position without abnormal noises, that may be normal operation. Confirm the exact year and configuration.
Can you repair the window at my home or workplace?
We offer mobile service in supported areas when suitable parts and safe working conditions are available. Contact us with your year and ZIP code to confirm coverage.
